Protect Universities from Attack – a minute’s silence held Monday 27th of April 2015.

Today at 12:00, Management, Faculties and Departments at Lund University held a minute’s silence in remembrance of the terrible attack on Garissa University College in Kenya, where on 2nd of April 147 students were killed and a large group of people were wounded.

Lund University, like other universities in the European University Association (EUA), decided to observe a minute’s silence to draw attention to the fact that violent attacks on people working or studying within universities are an attack on all universities and university values around the world. Lund University, together with EUA, reaffirm the belief that any attack on education runs counter to every person’s fundamental rights of freedom of thought, freedom of expression and the right of people to gain an education.
